MP Missing at Appointments Programme
THE NEW Patriotic Party (MP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North in Kumasi, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwa, was conspicuously missing when the party appointed some members into the party’s constituency executive body.
The NPP constituency chairman for Manhyia North, Mr. Kwaku Oppong, explained that the executives have invited the MP on three occasions to come so they can together elect seven members into the constituency executives.
Sadly, he said, all the three invitations were blatantly ignored by their MP so they (executives) had no other option than to appoint the seven members on Saturday, which was the last day for the constituencies to perform that exercise.
Among the people appointed into the party’s executives are Dorcas Konadu Boadu, financial Secretary, Baffour Asare, Communications and Douglas Agyeman, Deputy Organizer.
The rest of the members are Hawa Mohammed, Deputy Women Organizer, Anthony Kusi, Deputy Youth Organizer, Kwaku Sarpong, Elections/Research and Moro Abdulai, Deputy Nasara Coordinator.
The selection of the seven people into the NPP Manhyia North Constituency Executives was supervised by Mr. Kwasi Acheampong, acting Ashanti Regional Second Vice Chairman of the NPP.
In his remarks, Mr. Acheampong said he was surprised that the MP decided to stay away from such important party programme, saying “I will brief the regional executives about his decision to stay away”.
He also charged the new executives of the party to eschew all forms of internal bickering and rather unite as one family and move the NPP forward so that election 2020 would be a mere formality.
