MTN Supports Otumfuo Anniversary With Cash
MANHYIA Palace, the seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has received a cash donation of GH¢100,000 from mobile telecommunications giant, MTN, to support activities marking Otumfuo’s 20 years on the Golden Stool.
Forming part of the company’s corporate social responsibilities, the donation is also to show how MTN adores and respects the Asantehene.
Explaining the essence of the donation, Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN, recounted Otumfuo’s contributions and support to the success of MTN this far, and particularly hammered on how MTN had collaborated with the Asantehene in the past to provide internet facilities to several communities.
According to him, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is a development-oriented traditional leader, whose reign had led to the transformation of his area, and therefore deserves the support of all Ghanaians.
It will be recalled that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ascended the Golden Stool in 1999 and has since then led Asanteman into affluence. A grand durbar to mark his 20 years reign is scheduled for April 21.
