Music Connect Workshop Scheduled For Oct. 19
The future of Ghana’s music industry lies on the shoulders of today’s young and upcoming musicians who are expected to be equipped with the knowledge regarding show business to match up with other competitors on the global music market.
For this reason, Music Connect Workshop is here to serve the purpose of organizing music seminars across the country, in collaboration with top industry persons, to groom, nurture, coach and educate music producers, artistes, artiste managers and the entire music fraternity.
Organized by Music Oonnect, the seminar is under the theme ‘Bridging the gap’, and is set to come off on October 2019 at the Accra Tourism Information Centre, opposite Afrikiko.
In an exclusive interview with THE NEW PUBLISHER, Ms. Esther Konama Gyan, CEO of Music Oonnect, said the workshop will employ the services of experienced music persons in Ghana and Nigeria to educate, nurture and link new artistes to good record deals.
”Music is an expensive business and not an easy kind of work to involve yourself in if you do not have the financial support from elsewhere. This is why this platform will help uncover and project Ghanaian talents to the world. I am committed to supporting new artistes who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attain their dreams of becoming successful musicians.” she said.
According to her, the workshop is geared towards pushing Ghana music beyond the borders of Ghana and to create a platform to bring together new musicians to explore the future of the music industry.
“We are organizing this important seminar to equip various music makers with the knowledge of show-business. Music Connect, at the end of the day, will recruit attractive talents and enter into a record and managerial deal with them as start-up. We are not only after talents, but we will consider artistes whose image might sell as well. There is going to be a fee for participation,” she added.
Ms. Gyan is a music business expert, former manager for Gasmilla, Pope Skinny, Ara B, consultant for some A-List artistes like Guru among others. Her institution, she revealed, will recruit some talents to establish a record and managerial deal with them as a start-up of her music venture.
