MUSIGA Plans 2025 Golden Jubilee Celebrations

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has unveiled plans to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2025, commemorating 50 years of championing musicians’ rights and advancing Ghanaian music.

During a launch event held on November 7, 2024, at the Accra Tourist Information Centre, MUSIGA President Bessa Simons shared an exciting lineup of activities scheduled for the anniversary celebrations.

The festivities will include concerts featuring both local and international artists, lectures, symposiums, a gala dinner, and more.

A standout event will be an all-women’s music festival, a unique initiative aimed at spotlighting female musicians worldwide.

“One big thing is going to happen, and that is we are going to have all-women festival,” he said.

Simons explained that international participants will be self-sponsored, with embassies promoting the event to attract talent from around the world.

The anniversary celebration will feature both outdoor and indoor events, church services, and possibly a special performance by international gospel artists like Cece Winans, creating opportunities for collaboration and cultural exchange.

“So we are inviting female musicians from all over the world, and it is self-sponsored if you are coming from outside. All the embassies will publish it, so we are expecting women to come to Ghana and then they will mount the stage.

“There will be outdoor events, indoor events, church programmes, and we’re considering bringing Cece Winans and other artists to collaborate with our own, so that at the end of next year, there will be harm ony between us and artists from all over the world,” MUSIGA President Bessa Simons said.

Founded on December 9, 1975, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) was established to advocate for musicians’ rights, promote the growth of the music industry, and preserve Ghana’s rich musical heritage.
