Ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has hinted that, his investigative documentary in 2015 concerning the judicial service was to restore confidence and hope in the eyes of the general public.
His comments comes days after President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo sacked three justices of the high court who were part of over 30 judges caught taking bribes to warp justice in an undercover investigation done by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in 2015.
The three Justices, Paul Uuter Dery, Mustapha Habib Logo and Ayisi Addo were dismissed following recommendations by the Chief Justice’s Committee set up to investigate revelations in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas judicial corruption expose.
The Committee concluded that the conduct of the judges amounted to a criminal offence.
President Akufo Addo in a statement announcing the dismissals said the Police CID has been tasked to take up the matter.
However in an interview with Bernard Avle on Citi TV’s, The Point of View, Anas said there was still more work to be done in the fight against corruption in the Judicial sector.
“My work in the judiciary was a quick surgical operation and I did that because I actually admired reputable judges; many of them who are still in the service and I was worried that a few bad nuts would dent the reputation of the great ones,”- he said.
According to him, he did the job to make the judiciary look better and I am glad that a lot of confidence is being restored now. We still ought to push the frontiers.
