Minister of Special Development Initiatives, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson has assured Ghanaians that her ministry is bent on bringing development to the country.
She revealed this at a meet the press series held on the 13th of November at the Ministry of Information.
According to her, the ministry can boast of current ongoing projects under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
She listed 1000 community- based water system, 1000 Ten-seater water closet institutional facility, Fifty (50) 1000 metric tonne warehouses, 570 small dams and one ambulance per constituency (275) as current ongoing Government priority projects IPEP.
She stated that the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West regions under in the Northern Development Zone are currently undergoing some of the development projects. “We have constructed 124, 90 and 69 Ten Seater water closet, institutional toilets with mechanised boreholes in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions respectively.
We provided 124, 90 and 69 community based mechanised solar powered water systems in the Northern, Upper West and Upper East regions respectively. We also have 7 (1000 metric tonnes) , 3 (1000 metric tonnes) 5 (1000 metric tonnes) of prefabricated warehouses.
We have built 310,150 and 110 small dams and dug-outs in the Northern, Upper West and Upper East regions.” She also gave account of some of the projects in the Middle Development Zone.
“We have in the Eastern Region 105 Ten Seater water closet, institutional toilets with mechanised boreholes, 105 community based mechanised solar powered water systems and 77 (1000 metric tonnes) prefabricated warehouses. In the Ashanti Region, we have 142.
Ten Seater water closet, institutional toilets with mechanised boreholes, 142community based mechanised solar powered water systems and 7 (1000 metric tonnes) prefabricated warehouses.
In the Brong Ahafo, we have 87 Ten Seater water closet, institutional toilets with mechanised boreholes, 90 community based mechanised solar powered water systems and 6 (1000 metric tonnes) prefabricated warehouses.
She further stated that the Volta, Greater Accra, Central and Western Regions under the Coastal Development Zine have also witnessed some developments.
” In the Volta region, we have 78 Ten Seater water closet, institutional toilets with mechanised boreholes, 78 community based mechanised solar powered water systems and 3 (1000 metric tonnes) prefabricated warehouses.
In the Greater Accra Region, we have 103 Ten Seater water closet, institutional toilets with mechanised boreholes, 102 community based mechanised solar powered water systems and 1 (1000 metric tonnes) prefabricated warehouse.
In the Central Region, we have 123 Ten Seater water closet, institutional toilets with mechanised boreholes, 122 community based mechanised solar powered water systems and 6 (1000 metric tonnes) prefabricated warehouses.
In Western Region, we have 79 Ten Seater water closet, institutional toilets with mechanised boreholes, 78 community based mechanised solar powered water systems and 5 (1000 metric tonnes) prefabricated warehouses.
Hon. Mrs Hawa Koomson revealed that the 1000 metric tonne fabricated warehouse carry features which include laboratory, washroom, solar powered borehole solar dryers, resting area and office.
She also said that “570 small dams are being constructed in each of the constituencies across the 3 regions of the Northern Region”
