Four Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Northern Region have suffered several injuries in connection to an accident they faced on the Tamale – Accra highway in the early hours of today, Monday, 24 June 2019.
The four are DCE for Zabzugu -Ahmed Iddi Adakwah, Mion- Mohammed Hashim, Bimbila – Abdulai Yaqub and Gushegu -Mohammed Musah.
According to sources, they were travelling in a convoy to Wa, the capital of the Upper West Region, to join President Nana Akufo-Addo to launch the ‘Rearing for Food and Jobs’ flagship programme.
They have since been stabilised and are currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. There are plans to airlift them to the 37 Military Hospital for comprehensive medical care.
The Northern regional Minister, Salifu Saeed who confirmed the development to Starr News said;
” Three of the DCE’s are in critical condition but the doctors are working on it. I’m happy to announce that the doctors have managed to stabilise them but I have directed that they are taken to Accra,”.
