A Flagbearer hopeful of the main opposition party NDC, Stephen Atubiga has described government’s Nation Builder’s Corps (NABCO) as a good initiative.
According to him, the initiative will help address the high youth unemployment in the country so he fully in support of it.
On the other hand, he claimed that people who are enrolled into government’s flagship programme, Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) will be jobless after three years mandate since there is no policy to sustain the said program.
Mr. Stephen said on that score, the policy becomes unsustainable, adding that providing jobs for the young generation should be out momentary standard.
‘NABCO Not Worth Celebrating’ – Quashigah
Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Employment Committee, Richard Quashiga, had earlier downplayed the significance of government’s Nation Builder’s Corps (NaBCO), describing it as mediocre.
According to him, government of Ghana is only enrolling out a repeated initiative out of nothing.
“I think clearly this programme is nothing to celebrate… Those celebrating it are celebrating nothing but mediocrity. First of all, it is nothing innovative. It was something that was carved out of the existing YEA programme…I do not think it will wash. There is nothing glamorous about this, yet the President made a lot of fanfare about it” – he said.
Government introduced the NABCO initiative as part of its commitment towards addressing the high youth unemployment in the country.
100,000 recruits of NABCO successfully passed out on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in Accra.
