Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari has disclosed the reality behind kissing scenes in movies during a recent interview on The Afternoon Show.
Speaking with hosts Godwin Namboh and Anita Akuffo on TV3, she explained that kissing scenes are carefully staged to convince viewers they are genuine. The actors’ aim, she noted, is to make these scenes appear authentic to strengthen the story, not to reflect any actual emotions between the actors.
Buari emphasized that actors don’t attach feelings to these scenes; they portray realism only for their characters.
“The kisses are not real. It’s all make-believe. We’re kissing, but it’s real only for the characters, not the actors. No feelings are involved,” she clarified.
She also pointed out that the act happens on set with numerous crew members around, which keeps emotions out of it. According to Buari, portraying a character convincingly and performing intimate scenes are some of the most demanding aspects of acting.
Returning after a break from acting, Buari is set to appear in Forever in a Night, directed by Jameel Buari and produced by John N. Okwugo.
The film, scheduled for premiere on November 9, 2024, at Accra Mall and West Hills Mall, features a star-studded cast including Godwin Namboh, Samera Buari, Queenstar Anaafi, and Fred Sarpong. The story follows a woman who appears to have it all, only to face life-altering challenges in a single night. Buari’s return and insight into the craft have sparked excitement among fans, especially with this highly anticipated film on the horizon.
