PRESIDENT NANA Akufo-Addo has been advised to immediately stop flying in private jets around the globe since such ostentatious acts drains scanty national coffers and deepens hardship in the country.
Dr. Amoako Baah, a former Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), who gave the advice, said the president’s actions are not helping the country in these difficult times.
“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should stop flying in private jets since he is causing severe financial problems for all of us”, he said during an interview with Kofi Asante Ennin of Akoma FM in Kumasi on Tuesday.
According to him, Ghana, like the rest of the countries in the world, is facing massive economic challenges therefore it was important that the president played leading roles to protect the national purse from unnecessary wastages.
Dr. Baah, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who campaigned vigorously for Nana Akufo-Addo to become president in 2016, said he has regretted campaigning for President Akufo-Addo, saying “he is failing as president”.
He stated “I have regretted campaigning for Nana Akufo-Addo to become the president of this country”, adding that the president “seemed not ready to listen to any advice” as he is rapidly leading the country into a deep abyss.
Worryingly, Dr. Baah said even though things are not working properly for the country now, the president has also been portraying an arrogant posture, which has the potential of creating deep disaffection for the NPP.
“President Akufo-Addo should know that he is not popular anymore therefore it is important that he refrain from displaying arrogant posture”, he said “sadly the president is surrounded by selfish people who also doesn’t care.
“Even if the people around him decide to advice him, surely he would not listen”, he said, reiterating that the president was not doing a good job for the country and its people, who had confidence in him before he became president.
Sounding like a prophet of doom, Dr. Baah boldly predicted that the country would continue to sink deep into financial quagmire, stressing that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta has also woefully failed to deliver on his mandate.
