President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ordered the release of GH¢900,000 as payment to support Ghana’s 18 Premier League clubs.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Youth and Sports said “this has become necessary due to the directive of Government to all premier league matches to be played behind closed doors.
“Other clubs such as Division one, National Women’s League, CAF Champions League Representative and CAF Confederation Cup Representative will also receive some financial support from Government.”
The Ministry said each club will receive a total of GH¢50,000 which is expected to bring relief to the clubs especially as matches are currently being played behind closed doors to minimize the risk of COVID-19 spread.
