PRESIDENT NANA Akufo-Addo was received with excitement when he visited the Kumasi Central Mosque last Friday to pray and worship with the Islamic community as the day also marked the Eid Ul-Adha ceremony.
The worshippers showed signs of excitement when they saw the long convoy of cars of the President approaching the premises of the huge mosque.
Some of the Muslims, especially the women, could not contain their excitement and were seen throwing fabrics on the ground for the President to walk on.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, who clearly was impressed about the positive reception accorded to him, intermittently waved to the scores of worshippers.
The religious ceremony saw the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haroun, leading the worshippers to pray for the country and its people.
They also said fervent prayers for President Nana Akufo-Addo and all members of his government to be protected by Allah at all times.
Sheikh Mumin Haroun and the congregation also prayed for Allah’s continual blessings and protection to ensure peaceful election on December 7.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, whose address was brief, urged Muslims to follow the steps of Prophet Abraham by allowing the spirit of sacrifice to take over them.
He said Eid Ul-Adha, a strong pillar in the Islamic religion, teaches about the spirit of obedience, humility and sacrifice so the citizenry should learn such habits.
