It has emerged that the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), in Kumasi, is facing serious land problems that has prevented the facility from undertaking any major expansion works.
As a result of this challenge, KATH is reported to have lost series of opportunities to benefit from landmark projects in recent times.
President Nana Akufo-Addo has therefore stepped in to make sure that the situation is addressed immediately.
According to him, he would play any role possible so that KATH would get the adjoining military lands to help the hospital expand its facilities.
The President gave the assurance after KATH Chief Executive, Dr. Oheneba Danso had complained about lack of lands for expansion.
He therefore appealed passionately to the President to intervene so that KATH would get the adjoining military lands for expansion.
The occasion was the sod-cutting ceremony for the completion of works on abandoned MBU project at KATH on Friday.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, in his response to the KATH Chief Executive, assured that he would also play roles for KATH to get the lands.
He said he was aware the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was playing crucial roles to enable KATH get the adjoining military lands.
The President lauded the Asantehene for his efforts and gave the assurance that he would also play part to get the lands released.
President Nana Akufo-Addo said he was aware that lack of lands for expansion remained a problem for all teaching hospitals in the country.
