PRESIDENT NANA Akufo-Addo has tipped Dr. Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to win the upcoming presidential elections, scheduled for December 7.
According to him, the NPP leader has what it takes to continue with the splendid works of his (Akufo-Addo’s) administration so the electorates would vote massively for Dr. Bawumia to succeed him as the president.
“Dr. Bawumia is the best man for the job. He can add to the gains that my government has been able to secure in eight successive years. He will win the elections and succeed me as the next president”, Nana Addo said.
Speaking in an interview with Hello fm in Kumasi on Tuesday, he said the commendable policies that his government has introduced such as the free Senior High School (SHS), would collapse if the NDC wins power.
Nana Akufo-Addo stated that he would hand over a peaceful country to his successor just as he met the country, noting “I became president when the country was very peaceful and I will work to ensure that.
“I inherited a peaceful Ghana from my predecessor on January 7, 2017 so I will also hand over a peaceful country to the one who will come after me”, the number one gentleman of the land aka ‘Addo show boy’ said.
According to him, his major preoccupation now is to leave behind a peaceful country on January 7, 2025, stressing that the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections would be very peaceful.
“This is the ninth general elections since the 1992 constitution was introduced. All the previous eight successive elections were very peaceful, the country didn’t burn, and so will the upcoming polls be”, he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bawumia in explaining his bold solutions to prosper Ghana has said, among other things that he prioritize industrialization for jobs
He explains: “I will continue our policy of industrialization (in areas such as agro-processing (cocoa, cashew sheanuts, etc.) salt, gold and lithium refining and manufacture of batteries, and automobile assembly and manufacture) and empower the local business sector, especially startups and SMEs to drive investment and growth in Ghana, thus significantly boosting job creation. We must also protect local industry from smuggled imports that evade import duties.
“Special Economic Zones ( Free Zones) will also be created in collaboration with the private sector at Ghana’s major border towns such as Aflao, Paga, Elubo, Sankasi and Tatale to enhance economic activity, increase exports, reduce smuggling and create jobs.
“Tema port will be fully automated and benchmarked to be as efficient as some of the best ports in the world like Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai. Also there will be a new policy of aligning the duties and charges at Tema port to the duties and charges at Lome Port. Basically duties and charges at Tema Port should not be higher than Lome, our main competitor. This will also reduce smuggling and tax avoidance. Also for spare parts importers duties, will be at a flat rate per container (20 or 40 foot).”
