DR. MATTHEW Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as ‘Napo’, the Energy Minister, is the proud recipient of the prestigious Ghana’s Best Performing Minister award.
The Energy Minister, who doubles as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South in Kumasi, received the top award at the 3rd Africa Public Sector Conference in Accra.
A statement read out before the presentation of the award, said “Honourable, under your leadership, Ghana has made significant headway, establishing a competitive natural gas sector.
“By focusing on key projects that aim to fully exploit the country’s resources, rapidly increase power generation and decrease heavy fuel imports, you have revitalized Ghana’s promising natural gas industry”.
Napo, a former Education Minister and the man accredited for the successful implementation of the famous free SHS social intervention policy, has won several awards in the past.
For instance, Napo’s extraordinary exploits has been seen and recognized by several top educational institutions and other recognized bodies across the globe, who have awarded him in the past.
The Ag. Chief Director of the Ministry of Energy, Wilhelmina Asamoah, received the Best Minister’s award on behalf of Dr. Opoku Prempeh, who has become synonymous with top awards.
Napo’s recent award was in recognition of his splendid works at the Energy Ministry, which has increase power generation and decrease heavy fuel imports, and also revitalizing Ghana’s promising natural gas industry.
Among his previous awards included being adjudged as Ghana’s Best Minister abs being honoured by the United Nations (UN), among other enviable awards.
