‘Napo’ Blows Cover Over Three Year Debt
AN ALLEGED huge debt, left behind at the Education Ministry by the National Democratic Congress ((NDC) government, has resurfaced.
The current debt, said to be colossal follows the purchase of quantities of dictionaries for distribution to students in 2013-led
The erstwhile John Dramani Mahama, NDC-led administration failed to service the debt in three years before they were kicked out in 2016.
The Education Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, made the revelation during an interaction with NPP members in his constituency on Monday.
He stated that reports that he recently passed derogatory remarks about ex-Education Minister, Prof. Jane Naana Agyeman, is blatant false.
According to him, the ex-minister lied about funding and documents covering the free Senior High School (SHS) policy and he (Napo) only exposed her lies.
“It is never true that I insulted Prof. Jane Naana Agyeman as some people have been constantly spreading in the various media platforms.
“She as ex-Education Minister said the free SHS policy is not feasible and she passed this sad comment about two months to the introduction of the policy.
“And when we eventually introduced the positive policy, Prof. Jane Naana Agyeman turned around to state that the NDC introduced the free SHS policy.
“This blatant lies by her forced me to come out to set the records straight and also expose the heavy debt that she left behind as education minister.
“I did not insult her, I only told the truth. And before I forget, we have also uncovered another debt that the NDC left behind at the education ministry.
“They purchased quantities of dictionary for distribution in 2013 and they failed to service the debt and if you say it they say you are insulting her”, he said.
