Napo Gives Hope To Teachers
THE MINISTER for Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as ‘Napo’, has assured teachers of government’s commitment and readiness to implement pragmatic policies to enhance their standards of living.
He also disclosed that government had taken a firm decision to engage the leadership of teachers in the country in discussions regarding policies and programmes that would be of benefit to them, before rolling them out.
“I wish to use this opportunity to assure our teachers that government is very much committed to improving their lot and to which end we would be initiating series of discussions with the various groups and unions to determine what form of motivation and support would make the most impact on them”, he said.
Speaking at the 11th Congregation for 2018 Diploma in Basic Education (DBE) Graduands of the St. Monica’s College of Education, at Asante Mampong, on Saturday, the minister further hinted that government have decided to give the needed support to the sector to help upgrade teaching and learning standards in the state so as to produce quality human resource.
“Education is the fundamental importance to the growth and continuity of all societies. All development achievements are made possible by the human mind and education is the only tool that can unleash the potentials of the human mind for personal and societal development and growth”.
According to him, government has already started a programme aimed at bringing the needed reforms to the educational sector and making the teacher the center of every policy.
NAPO assured that government would at all times continue to invest in the sector, stressing that the country’s developmental agenda would not materialize if the people were not effectively and properly educated.
He also admonished teachers, especially the fresh graduands, to be disciplined, dedicated and committed to duty, adding that teachers need to read constantly to help improve their knowledge so they could also transfer it to their students.
