NAPO Should Go Solo – MCE
The desire of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’ to retain his seat as the Manhyia South Member of Parliament (MP) on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been given a lifeline.
The Chief Executive of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, Alhaji Alidu Seidu, insisted that Napo should not face any competition in the NPP in his constituency due to his importance to the NPP nowadays.
According to him, Napo has performed excellently as the Minister of Education and he would play a pivotal role to help President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP to retain political power in December.
In this regard, he stated that the Manhyia South MP, who doubles as the Education Minister, should be given his peace of mind to rally behind the President to campaign and win the needed votes for the party.
“It is through Napo’s visionary works that the NPP government has been able to implement the famous free Senior High school (SHS) policy, which has been embraced by every Ghanaian, including even NPPs opponents.
“The NPP will use the free SHS as the main campaign message to woo the voters to retain political power in 2021. Therefore Napo, who is the architect of the free SHS policy, should be given a peace of mind to operate”.
Alidu Seidu, who is the NPPs elected parliamentary candidate for Asawase Constituency, said the party needs to protect its assets in parliament “and Napo is now a huge asset for the NPP in the august House”.
He said “if Napo goes for a contest, surely he (Napo) would easily win without sweat because he is very popular not only in his constituency, but across the country. He is as an asset for the NPP and we must protect him”.
Alidu Seidu, speaking on radio, also said the Majority Leader and MP for Suame Constituency in Kumasi, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who has done extremely well for the NPP in parliament, should also be protected by the party.
According to him, the NPP would win the 2020 elections and continue with their splendid works, stressing that nothing could prevent the party from defeating the NDC again in December this year.
