NAPO Spearheads Medical Screening for Constituents
RESIDENTS OF Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti region have benefitted from a one-day free health screening exercise, conducted by medical experts from the United States (US).
The programme was the brainchild of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called ‘Napo’, in political circles. The MP, according to reports, contacted officials of the George Fox University School of Physical Therapy in Portland Oregon, US, to screen his constituents on Friday.
The 15 medical experts, who are on a visit to the country, screened thousands of people at two separate centers, Abbey’s Park in Ash Town and Dunwell Methodist Church at Dichemso.
The beneficiaries, including elderly men and women, were screened in their waist, back and their spinal areas to check if they were having any deformities so that they could be given immediate treatment.
Addressing newsmen after the exercise, Napo said the George Fox University officials annually visit the country for free medical screening and he (Napo) contacted them to visit his constituency this year.
He used the occasion to educate his constituents and Ghanaians in general, on the strong need to periodically go for medical screening so that they would remain strong and healthy.
