NAPO stages football gala for Otumfuo

A FOOTBALL gala, with mouth-watering prizes at stake, will take place at the ‘brabd-new’Abbey’s Park in Kumasi on Saturday in honour of the Asante Monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on the celebration of his 20 years successful reign as spiritual head of Asanteman.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the Manhyia South Lawmaker and Minister for Education is sponsoring the historic event.

The one-day tournament will be followed by a grand durbar at Manhyia on Sunday to crown activities marking the anniversary.

Eight teams, one each from the six Electoral Areas in Kumasi, and two from identifiable groups in the kingdom, would participate in the tournament, scheduled for the refurbished Abbey’s Park.

Haruna Alhassan, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Manhyia South Constituency Secretary, who made the disclosure to the press, urged residents of the constituency and Kumasi at large to patronize the event in order to make it memorable.
