The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has supported a museum project in the Ashante region with 200 bags of cement.
Named as ‘Educational Museum on Manwere and Asante History’, the project is to help in educating the citizenry about the Manwere and Asante history.
The museum project, which is already underway, is being constructed by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s Manwerehene, Baafuo Ossei Hyeaman Brantuo VI,
The facility is located in the Manwerehene’s palace, which is in the Manhyia South Constituency, where Dr. Prempeh, who is popularly known in political circles as ‘Napo’, is the MP.
Nana Kodie Abebrese aka ‘Uncle Tee’, who represented Napo during the presentation ceremony on Wednesday, commended the Manwerehene for starting the project.
According to him, the facility, when completed, would serve as a center for the learning of history, especially the rich history of Manwere and Asante in general.
Napo, he said, believes that the learning of history could influence the youth to become influential people in the near future “and so he didn’t hesitate to support the project”.
According to him, the Manwerehene wrote to Napo’s office for support “and Napo, who is the education minister and values education, is supporting with 200 bags of cement”.
Otumfuo Manwerehene’s Linguist, Nana Yamoah Gyamfi, said the chiefs in the Manwere Division were overwhelmed by the volume of support from Napo, after an appeal for help.
According to him, Napo’s significant presentation would go a long way to help in making progress in the construction works, urging other people to also support the project.
