MATTHEW Opoku Prempeh, the Energy Minister, has won the prestigious ‘Overall Africa Role Model in Politics and Governance’ award.
The enviable award was given to Dr. Prempeh aka ‘Napo’ at the 14th MTN Pulse Africa Role Model Awards at the Great Hall, KNUST in Kumasi.
The Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC) the organizers of the awards have in the last honoured presidents, the Asantehene and others.
The entire of the Great Hall at the KNUST shook with cheers and applauds when Napo’s name was mentioned as the winner of the prestigious award for this year.
A beautiful plaque and a citation were presented to the Energy Minister, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South in Kumasi.
Part of the citation said the award was presented to Napo “in recognition of your transformational and exemplary leadership as a public servant”.
It also said Napo has been “inspiring young people to aspire to enter into the field of politics as a way of contributing positively to their nation”, hence been honoured.
Napo in his acceptance speech said “I am humbled by this life-time conferment, as it encourages me to continue to serve diligently, my country with all the energy I can muster”.
