NAPO Wins Overall Best Minister
Dedicates Award To Nana Addo
The selfless efforts and commitment of the Education Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called ‘Napo’, in the promotion of education standards in the country, has been recognized and duly honoured.
The charismatic Minister has been adjudged as the Best Minister in the country for 2017, a prestigious award, which is highly recognized across the globe, during a colourful ceremony in Accra on Saturday night.
The overall Best Minister Award was presented to Napo during the Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards 2018 ceremony, which took at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra, the national capital.
The organizers of the event said Napo’s ideal leadership style and hard work, have made it possible for the Free Education policy, which some few years ago was only a dream, to become a reality in Ghana now.
They particularly praised Napo for the smooth manner at which the free Education programme started in the country last year, stressing that Napo, who is also the Manhyia South Lawmaker, deserves to be honoured.
According to the event organisers, people like Napo are natural trailblazers therefore there is the need to honour them when they achieve greater heights to help motivate others to emulate their shining example to expedite national growth.
It is the second award that has been presented to Napo over his exemplary leadership style by two different highly reputable bodies within a spate of just ten days.
This is testimony that Napo is doing something right at the Education Ministry.
Ten days ago, at a similar ceremony in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, McJoy Advertizing Company also honoured Napo for successfully introducing the free SHS policy during the African Quality Awards 2018 at the Golden Tulip.
Gives Glory To Nana
Speaking at Saurday’s award ceremony in Accra, Napo, an astute medical doctor, whose term as Minister has brought massive changes in the educational sector, gave thanks to God for being by his side all the time.
He dedicated the top award to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who saw something in him (Napo) and appointed him as Education Minister after the NPP government came to power in January 2017.
Napo, who was almost in tears, also dedicated the top award to the directors and staff of his Ministry and every Ghanaian, who believed in the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and have supported the policy to take off smoothly.
He said the various awards clearly shows that at least the public knows that he and his Ministry are on the right track, adding that the honours would spur him on to go the extra mile to make sure that education standards are raised.
Significantly, Napo’s top award was presented to him by the United States of America (USA) Ambassador to Ghana, Robert Porter Jackson, amid wild cheers from the important people that graced the event.
