Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Mitch Kupchak has announced that Ghana Center Nathan Mensah has penned a two way contract with the NBA side.
This announcement comes at a time the 25 year old continues to excel for the Hornets NBA Gatorade League affiliate, Greensboro Swarm.
In his first season with Greensboro after going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, the 6 foot 9 inch Mensah has averaged 10.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 29.3 minutes across 25 games.
Signing the two way contract means that the Accra born defender will get chances to play for the Hornets in the NBA at various points in the season.
Should he excel, Mensah could have his contract converted into a full scale NBA contract; the former San Diego State University player is on the verge of becoming the third Ghana-born player to play in the NBA.
Fellow center Amida Brimah and small forward Ben Bentil have had short stints in the NBA; Brimah is in the NBA Gatorade League with Grand Rapids Gold-the affiliate of NBA Champions Denver Nuggets.
