Mr. Isaac Otoo, the Deputy Head of Medium Tax Office (MTO), Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in the Volta Region has observed that the engagement of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in its tax education campaign has yielded positive results.
He said though the Authority could not meet its set target for last year, the three months “vigorous” tax education campaign spearheaded by the NCCE helped increased compliance level of tax payers in the Region.
Mr Otoo who was interacting with the GNA in Ho said the collaboration also helped raise the Authority’s revenue, compared to previous years.
He said the campaign; aimed at encouraging the citizenry to honour their tax obligations and other civic responsibilities saw a good number of people walking to the offices of the Authority to pay their taxes.
“It is impressive and successful, especially in the rural areas with many walking to us to pay,” Mr Otoo stated.
He said follow ups by the Authority after the NCCE sensitisation yielded positive results and prayed for the sustenance of the campaign.
