THE SUAME Constituency Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Saeed Umar, has suffered huge humiliation as scores of NDC hoodlums on Monday beat him mercilessly in the full glare of the public at Suame, a suburb of Kumasi.
This was when Mr. Sylvester Mensah, a contender in the NDC presidential race, stormed Suame Constituency on Monday to campaign for votes.
The angry-looking NDC young men initially threatened Umar to surrender a party car in his possession, as he was no longer the party Chairman for Suame, following after a court order to step aside.
Reports say Umar refused to hand over the car keys, leading to him (Umar) being turned into a punching bag.
THE PUBLISHER gathered that, in the course of the beatings, Umar gave the ignitions keys of the car to his friend to drive away, but his attackers reportedly shot at the car, leading to the deflation of the tyres. The driver, however, managed to drive the car away.
Unconfirmed reports say the car is now parked at the Suame Police Station as the police commence investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, THE PUBLISHER has gathered that the Suame Constituency NDC has been sharply divided over an impending parliamentary poll.
