THE AYEDUASE Electoral Area Branch Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the Oforikrom Constituency, Abubakari Sadique, has claimed responsibility for the disruption of the party’s polls on Saturday.
“I personally stopped the NDC Constituency elections at the Oforikrom Constituency in the Ashanti region on Saturday”, he boasted on Nhyira FM.
Sadique explained that there were a lot of injustices and illegalities concerning the elections, which influenced his infamous decision to disrupt event at the eleventh-hour.
According to him, the names of several known NDC members in the Constituency were missing from the party’s voter register and that he believed that this could spark troubles.
“The names of some known NDC members in 22 polling stations in the constituency were not in the voter register and I considered the development, not only as unfair, but a recipe for unending troubles and fighting in our dear NDC.
“As the NDC branch chairman of Ayedase Electoral Area, I quickly saw the danger ahead for the party, had we organized the elections without the members being allowed to vote, so I decided to disrupt the polls”.
Abubakari Sadique said he would allow the elections to take place in the Constituency only after all the missing names in the register had been restored.
