FROM ALL indications the upcoming constituency elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region, could be heralded by widespread confusion and possibly violence.
Credible reports reaching THE PUBLISHER indicate that some aggrieved party members in some of the constituencies in the region have already started trading punches.
This follows speculations that some top members of the party in the region have hatched a plan to prevent some aspirants from getting nomination forms.
Ideally, the forms are supposed to be kept at the 47 constituency offices in the region, but the decision of some ‘seize’ the documents for their parochial interest is said to have angered some members, who are openly threatening to spill blood.
Top party members, including Raymond Tandoh, Ashanti Regional Secretary and Ofori Agyeman Boadi aka ‘Zuba’, ex-Obuasi MCE, have both confirmed possible troubles ahead of the polls.
“Some of the aspirants believe that they are being discriminated against as they are struggling to get hold of nomination forms and this is causing trouble”, Zuba disclosed on Nhyira FM.
He added: “Some of the aggrieved party people have rushed to my house to complain bitterly about the difficulties that they have been facing with regards to getting the nomination forms and we must address this genuine concern”.
Raymond Tandoh, on his part, sternly warned those who are reportedly hoarding nomination forms to desist from doing so, saying that it is only the vetting committee that can prevent people from contesting the polls.
