A former District Chief Executive for Akuapim North George Opare Addo has been elected as the National Youth Organiser of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He defeated two fierce contenders Yaw Brogya Gyamfi and Wonder Madilo to take up the position.
The election which forms part of the NDC’s National Executive election took place at the Pentecost International Worship Centre at Gomoa in the Central region last Saturday.
Opare Addo popularly known as ‘Pablo’ pulled 523 votes while his closest contender Brogya Gyemfi pulled 396 votes with a third candidate Wonder Madilo also gathering 74 votes.
Edem Agbana and Ruth Dela were also elected Deputy National Youth organizers.
On the Women Organizer position, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hannah Bissiw was voted as the lead the women in party.
She polled 446 votes to beat off competition from incumbent Women organizer Hajia Zenam Mahama who had 252 votes.
The NDC will elect the rest of the national executives in November 2018 and its flagbearer in December.
