NDC MP Aspirant Rejected At Asawase
THE NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) at Asawase, in Kumasi, on Wednesday started the process towards its party parliamentary polls on a jerky note, as the opening day for the picking of nomination forms saw a known party man being denied the forms.
Supporters of Masawudu Mubarick, who had thronged the office to pick nomination forms on behalf of their candidate, were left disappointed as they were turned away.
It is not clear why they were turned away, but the development is reported to have sparked extreme anger among supporters of Masawudu Mubarick, who felt they were unfairly treated.
Adams Mohammed, a leading supporter of Mabarick, alleged that the party merely wanted to protect the incumbent MP, Mohammed Muntaka, to go unopposed.
“We went to the NDC office at Asawase to pick the forms on behalf of Masawudu Mubarick on Wednesday but they used crooked means to deny us the forms.
“They demanded the NDC party card and the national ID card of Masawudu Mubarick and we produced the soft copies on our phone but they rejected it.
“We then proceeded to the NDC regional office to pick the forms for our idol but they also used the same excuse to deny us that privilege”, he complained bitterly.
Mohammed, aka ‘Ada’ said his team then sent a delegation to the party’s national headquarters in Accra to pick the forms to enable their candidate to contest the party polls.
According to him “the Asawase NDC executives wanted to use clandestine means to help Mohammed Muntaka to go unopposed in 2020 but that dirty trick will not work this time”.
