Alhassan Mustapha, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manhyia South Organizer, has been granted a Ghc 1 million bail.
He was charged for offensive conduct and threat of life when he appeared before the Ashanti Regional Police CID in Kumasi on Tuesday.
Mustapha recorded a video where he threatened to cause mayhem in the country if the ruling NPP attempts to rig the 2024 general elections.
His short video, which was violent-laden, has since gone viral and it has been widely condemned by the public, who described his actions as bad.
The video was also seen by the Ashanti Regional Police, who instantly declared Mustapha wanted. The suspect reported to the police on Tuesday.
Mustapha’s statement was taken by the police, who then charged him for offensive conduct and threat of life. He would report to the police on Monday.
Significantly, the suspect was accompanied to the police station by known NDC members in the region, who were there to give him moral support.
Augustus Nana Kwasi, the Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman and other regional executives, were also spotted at the police station.
