NDC should Disqualify Bagbin from Contesting – Dr. Jinapor
Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Dr. Amidu Jinapor, has alluded that the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, who has declared his intentions to contest the flagbearership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), does not fit to contest for such position.
The Head of Department of the Early Childhood Education at the UEW said Mr. Bagbin is not prepared for the NDC flagbeareship.
The Nadoli MP is among the eleven eminent persons in the NDC who are eyeing the flagbearership for the 2020 elections.
Speaking on the Saturday’s edition of TV’3 New Day, Dr. Jinapor said Mr. Bagbin’s unsavory comment about some appointees and ministers in the Mahama-led administration have dented his political career and his presidential ambition.
“I think Babgin’s comment is unfortunate and may affect his political career in future. It won’t affect his presidential ambition because I think he is not a prepared candidate”, he explained.
Mr. Bagbin is said to have told party communicators in the Volta Region that the former President John Mahama made a bad decision by appointing Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, a stammerer, as Communications Minister as well as Dr. Seidu Danaa, a visually-impaired person as Minister of Chieftaincy Affairs.
Dr Jinapor is asking the second Deputy Speaker of Parliament to break his silence on the issue; saying, “he should break his silence on the issue. I won’t sit here and tell him to apologize or not. He knows what’s best for him and so he should try and make amends with these people and especially former president John Mahama”, he advised.
