NDC Slams NPP Over ‘Dumsor’
THE LARGEST opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration against taking glory for the stable power supply in the country.
According to the NDC, the power crisis in the country was caused by the NPP administration, under the leadership of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who served as President for eight years and left office in 2009.
They insisted that they (NDC), under the leadership of ex-President John Dramani Mahama, implemented practical programmes and policies, which contributed to end the power crisis, which had collapsed a lot of businesses.
The Deputy National Organizer of the NDC, Joshua Akamba, said Ghanaians should make mockery of the NPP if they try to take glory for the stable power supply in the country, arguing, the NPP has not contributed to the stable power supply.
“Former President Kufuor’s administration left behind the Dumsor problem in 2009, which destroyed businesses and the NDC government, under Mr. John Dramani Mahama, managed to solve the power quandary.
“The NPP government has not added a single megabyte to the power supply in the country since President Akufo-Addo took over power about one-year ago therefore it is wrong for the NPP to take glory for the stable power supply.
“This clearly shows that the NPP did not solve the Dumsor problem as they are trying to portray. It was Mr. Mahama, who implemented policies that has helped to solve the Dumsor problem”, Akamba said on UTV.
He also accused the NPP administration of looting state coffers, saying that it is wrong for the NPP to use state money to finance its National Delegates Conference at Cape Coast as alleged by top NPP member, Obiri Boahen.
Akamba, who was virtually hitting hard at the NPP administration, also lambasted the NPP government for failing to fulfill even five percent of the numerous promises that they gave to Ghanaians, which helped them to win the 2016 polls.
He asked “Where is the One District, One Factory promise and the other campaign promises of the NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo?”, adding that the NPP cannot lead the country to the Promised Land as they promised.
