NDC splits Ashanti campaign to win 2024

The largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a strategic move to increase its political fortunes in the Ashanti Region is said to have discussed the possibility of dividing the region into three campaign zones for a more effective and target based campaign.

According to credible insiders from the corridors of the NDC, the three divided parts would each have its own campaign manager so as to help the NDC to campaign effectively in order to help them to win more votes during the upcoming elections.

NPPs Stronghold

The Ashanti Region has over the past elections remained a strong fortress of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the ruling political party always accumulates more votes from this populous region.

In the 2020 presidential elections, the NPP had 1, 795,824 while the NDC had 653,149.

Historically, since the inception of the Fourth Republic, anytime the NPP performs excellently in the Ashanti Region, the party manages to win the national elections.

NDCs Observation

The NDC leadership, especially top lieutenants in ex-President Mahama’s camp, are reported to have expressed belief that the NDCs chances of winning the polls depends on their electoral performance at the polls in the Ashanti Region.

According to them, the NDC as a political party should do everything humanly possible to prevent the NPP from winning more votes in the region to retain power in 2024.

In line with this, the NDC leadership is contemplating how to divide the 47 constituencies in the region into three parts with three different campaign managers to lead the party to the polls.

According to them, the division of the region would ensure proper campaign and monitoring of votes especially on the Election Day so as to help the NDC to break the NPPs hold of the region.
