NDC TO LOSE AT ASAWASE …Over Wasiu Shooting

THE NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) could lose an avalanche of votes in the Asawase Constituency, the party’s stronghold in Kumasi in 2020, following negative developments within the party.

For instance, as a result of the recent shooting to death of Abdul Wasiu, a member of the NDC Taskforce in Kumasi by suspected members of the Hawks, hundreds of the party’s staunch members in the constituency have vowed not to vote for the party during the next general elections.

As would be expected, many of the aggrieved members are relatives, friends and sympathizers of the deceased.

Wasiu’s family members have bitterly complained that the NDC leadership had neglected them ever since their dear one was murdered.

They have consequently slammed the party for being ‘heartless and uncaring’, and are threatening not to vote for the party in the 2020 and other future elections.

An aggrieved relative, who only gave her name as Mother, disclosed that Wasiu’s biological mother also died during an NDC programme at Asawase last year.

According to her, the party did not provide any meaningful support for the bereaved family during the deaths of Wasiu and his mother, adding that the family feel neglected, as a result.

“We are not only leaving the NDC; we shall also campaign against the NDC so that they will lose a sizeable number of votes in 2020”, Mother said on Nhyira FM.

Wasiu was, reportedly, shot six times by some members of the Hawks, a deadly NDC vigilante group, during a clash in front of the NDC Ashanti regional office.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command quickly declared 12 people wanted in connection with the shooting. Three of the suspects have since been arrested and arraigned.
