THE NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) says it will strongly oppose any attempt by government to use the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) as a conduit to witch-hunt its members.
Speaking on behalf of the party, Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho, stressed on the need for the office to be politically neutral in the discharge of its duties.
He threatened that the NDC would strongly resist any attempt by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to use office as a front to make life unbearable for the opposition.
“We shall kick against any attempt by the NPP to witch-hunt our members. The Special Prosecutor should be fair and firm”, he requested, adding that the laws should be applied fairly without fear or favour for peace to prevail in the country.
The NDC deputy scribe said even though he supports the introduction of the Special Prosecutor to fight against corruption in the country, he expects that the whip would be cracked fairly.
He assured that the NDC, as a party, would not troop to court with its members to support party member who may be proven to have indulged in corruption.
“The NDC party will not order members to converge at the court when a member of our party, who has actually committed crime, is sent to court.
“The family members and loved ones of those people can follow them to court but the NDC, as a party, would not”, he said in an audio played on Otec FM.
