Tax consultant and a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Mr. Alex Ackuaku, has served notice to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom Constituency in the Greater Accra region, that he (Alex) would definitely wrestle the seat from him, come December, 2020.
He issued the ‘threat’ after he was successfully elected as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency on Saturday.
Mr Ackuaku, who polled 418 out of 922 total votes cast, against six other aspirants, said his victory was for the betterment of the entire party.
There was drama at the Tuba M/A School when the results started trickling in, as his main contender, Mr. Felix Akwetey, who polled 362 votes, virtually vanished into thin air before the results were declared by the representative of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Unconfirmed reports say Akwetey literally collapsed at an undisclosed location and had to be resuscitated by friends by pouring pales of water on him.
Addressing the media after he was declared winner, Alex said: “It is not Ackuaku who has won but NDC, so I am urging all members of the party to come together to fight the battle together for victory in 2020. The incumbent should watch out; we are coming to snatch the seat from him”, he said.
Other aspirants, who couldn’t make through, promised to support the winner to unseat the incumbent MP of the area.
