The several workshops organized each day by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has no value and won’t the issues of actors welfare, popular Kumawood actor, Dada Santo popularly known as Oboy Siki has said.
According to him, many of the government appointees into the Ministry like Hon. Mark Okraku Mantey has been in the industry for years, to know workshops does not pave way for better sustainability of aging actors.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi based Angel FM Entertainment show hosted by De unpredictable, Oboy Siki said Mark Okraku-Mantey and his boss heading the Ministry should find better innovative ways to make the aging actors living conditions better rather than organizing workshops all over.
“They will wait for an actor, actress and musician to come out and beg for money before they will contribute to support the person while some will not even get the support. If the Minister and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture put measures in place which will improve the welfare of the industry players, nobody will come out to beg for money.”
Frustrated Oboy Siki added, “Mark Okraku Mantey has been in the industry for so many years but ever since he was appointed as the Deputy Minister, all he knows is organizing workshops without thinking about the welfare of the industry players.”
