General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has discredited reports that he sent a delegation to prevail upon his only contender in the General Secretary position of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho, to step down.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, incumbent general secretary of the National Democratic Congress, appears to be in a dogfight with his deputy, Koko Anyidoho, as the two battle for the general secretary position in the party’s upcoming national executive elections.
“How on earth will I beg Koku not to contest? I was very angry when I saw the story because I never did such a thing”, he explained.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia was reported to have sent some people to prevail on Koku Anyidoho to step down from the contest to enable him go unopposed.
But reacting to the issue on Accra based Okay FM ,Mr. Asiedu Nketia said “I have no problem if Koku contests me. It is his right but reporting that I begged him to step down was false”.
Asiedu Nketia is accusing Koku Anyidoho and his assigns of fabricating lies about him, first, by claiming that he (Nketia) had given him his blessing to contest the general secretary position because he was not going to seek re-election and, second, by lying again that he(Nketia) had sent a delegation to beg him not to contest him. Nketia angry
Mr. Anyidoho last week Thursday picked his nomination forms to contest as General Secretary, a position his boss has hold for the past twelve years.
According to Mr. Asiedu Nketia, he has not done such thing and blamed some faceless individuals for orchestrating such acts.
The NDC scribe revealed that Mr. Anyidoho rather led a group of NDC elders to his residence to apologize for claiming that he [Koku] received blessings from him [Nketiah] to contest because he was no longer interested.
