The Nana Afrah Foundation (NAF) has started processes to construct four ultramodern boreholes to address the perennial water challenges at Drobonso and the surrounding communities in the Sekyere Afram Plains District, of the Ashanti Region.
The boreholes are being constructed with all the needed amenities to help the people in the area to constantly get clean water to drink.
NAF is a voluntary, non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit organization, which focuses on fighting illiteracy, poverty and disease through education, engagement, and empowerment programmes.
Owned by Nana Afrah Adepa Gyekye, a young and dynamic entrepreneur, who is also a philanthropist, NAF is noted for always extending a helping hand to support the vulnerable in society.
Alhaji Ishaq Dauda, who was representing Nana Afrah Adepa Gyekye, told the chiefs and people of Drobonso that Issahkrom, Abenua, Akroma and Drobonso, would get the four beholds soon.
Interacting with the chiefs and opinion leaders of Drobonso, he noted that the NGO has plans of extending the borehole project to other areas as well after the completion of the first four.
“Drobonso Zongo, Nyameama No. 1 and 2, Megyefa Nyamebekyere, Attakuraa, Aduadu, Abdulai and Kakraba”, would also get free modern boreholes from NAF, he said, attracting wild applause.
Alhaji Ishaq Dauda added “We shall also maintain the existing boreholes at Abenua and Drobonso Zongo”, adding that NAF wants its positive presence to be felt in Drobonso and the nearby areas.
The new boreholes, he said, would help address the perennial water problems in the area, in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 3 and 4 of the United Nations (UN).
Alhaji Ishaq Dauda also said NAF has also decided to “empower all persons living with disability in the district”, for which, the chiefs would provide the list of such persons for the consideration of the NGO.
Nana Dwamena Dankwa Dwubisaw, Otumfuo Obrempong, and Nana Adua Akosua Fofie II, the Queenmother of Drobonso, lauded NAF for previously donating 10 street bulbs and 100 bags of cement towards Drobonso new palace project.
