NGO to Construct Multi-Purpose Orphanage in Tamale
The Technical University College of Ghana in collaboration with Care and Social Development, a non-governmental organisation has broken the ground for the construction of a multi-purpose orphanage in Tamale.
Dr. Osman Al-hassan, the Acting Principal of the University, said the hundred room multipurpose project, which comprised an orphanage home, basic school, Senior High School, Sports complex and a university, sought to bring human growth and development for beneficiaries.
He said the late Prof. Abubakr Al-hassan, a former principal of the College, initiated the project but unfortunately could not live to see its commencement.
Dr Al-hassan explained that the facility, which would be extended beyond the orphanage to serve the entire community would therefore give orphans a future and prevent them from going wayward and acknowledged the support of Gulkpe-Na, Kampakuya- Na, Dungu-Na and their elders for providing the land and lending support for the project.
He also thanked the sponsors led by Sheikh Hamed Hajri and a team from Kuwait for their huge support; and called on the community members and individuals to contribute their quota towards the proper running of the project.
Sheikh Hamed Hajri, a representative of the Kuwait and Qatar based humanitarian group, who were sponsoring the project, officially broke the ground for the construction of the ultra-modern facility.
