NHIS Card Challenges Being Addressed – NHIA
Authorities of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) are assuring subscribers of their efforts to address issues of shortage of materials for registration in parts of the country.
This follows reports of widespread shortage of items needed for the renewal of NHIS cards and the registration of new subscribers onto the scheme. Scores of would-be subscribers have had to be turned away when they go to the offices of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to register.
Reports say the development has created massive inconvenience to clients who had to travel long distances to registration centres to have their cards renewed in order to access health care. Some subscribers who called into Class 91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Wednesday 25 April 2018 poured out their frustration about the development.
Director of Communications at the NHIS, Barima Sarpong however indicated that efforts are being made to address the situation.
“When we talk about shortage in general when you are doing any work and the materials you need to do the work is not manufactured by yourself and you rely on suppliers, when suppliers have issues it may affect your work so as it happens in most other work places sometimes you get shortage of materials. I can say on authority that we have dispatched new materials to our branches not too long ago,” he told host of the programme Moro Awudu.
