OFFICIALS OF Nnagot Quarry Limited, a top quarry firm, has cut the sod for the construction of a 30-bed hospital in Kona, in the Sekyere South District in the Ashanti Region.
The ultra-modern medical facility is expected to be complete in 24 months time, and it forms part of Nnagot Quarry Limited’s corporate social responsibilities to the area it operates.
The sod-cutting ceremony, which was brief and colourful, was attended by all the big dignitaries in Kona, including traditional leaders, officials of the Sekyere South District Assemby and others.
The CEO of Nnagot Quarry Limited, Nana Nobeng Amoo-Gottfried, stated that it has always been the practice and norm of his company to contribute to the progress of the area they operates.
According to him, it is a fact that the sitting government could not solely provide all the healthcare infrastructure needed in the country, hence his company’s decision to construct the hospital.
Nana Nobeng Amoo-Gottfried noted that the construction of the hospital would not be a nine-day wonder, promising that his company would readily support Kona again to be properly developed.
He also entreated other well-to-do individuals and organizations in the country to support the communities where they operate so as to help expedite national transformation.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere South District, Catherine Reckline, on her part, commended Nnagot Quarry for its support to Kona, urging other companies to follow suit.
