No Beef with Otumfuo — Techimanhene Declares
THE PARAMOUNT Chief of the Techiman Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo, Ameyaw Akumfi, has debunked rumours that there is animosity between him and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
According to him, he is aware of hoax reports that he and the Asante King are stark enemies, who don’t see eye-to-eye, stressing that there is no iota of truth in the reports.
“There are false reports that the Techimanhene and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II are enemies. This rumour has been going on for some time now, and I want to state today that there is no truth in that report.
“Those who are spreading that false report should know that I and Otumfuo are from the Oyoko clan and so we are brothers, therefore reports that we are enemies have no bases”, the Techimanhene declared.
Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw made the strong statement at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi recently, where he had stormed to commiserate with Otumfuo, over the death of the Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.
“I was personally here at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi some months ago, during the ‘Dote Yie’ (burial) of the Asantehemaa, and I am again here today for the grand funeral rites of the late queen.
“My two visits here alone are enough to tell everyone that the Techimanhene and the Asantehene are not enemies. In fact, we are brothers and so the public should take note and stop the wild rumours”, he noted.
He further disclosed that Otumfuo also visited him at Techiman some months ago, adding that he and the Asantehene love and cherish peace.
According to him, the days when chiefs engaged in wars against one another now belong to history, stressing that traditional leaders like himself and Otumfuo believe in co-operation, which leads to development.
The Techimanhene stressed that chiefs need to work closely with one another so that they can bring transformation for their people.
