The upcoming regional elections of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) which were supposed to begin on Saturday, April 21, 2018 have been postponed in the Northern Region.
The polls have been rescheduled to April 28, 2018.
The NPP Regional Communications Director, Abdul Latif Issahaque told Citi News that there were five outstanding constituency elections, hence the postponement.
According to him, two out of the five, comprising Daboya/Mankarigu and Bimbila have since been held.
He gave the assurance that the remaining three constituency elections shall be conducted to pave way for the regional polls.
Abdul Issahaque added that the Regional Elections Committee had compiled a credible register and made available copies to all the aspirants.
He said 51 aspirants are vying for the various positions.
Five aspirants including the incumbent regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu are in the chairmanship race.
