NPA Suspends 8 OMCs …Over Illegal Trading
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has suspended a total of eight (8) Oil Marketing and Bulk Distribution Companies operating in the country.
The suspension, which took effect from July 18, 2018, is as a result of their involvement in activities that led to the loss of tax revenue to government.
A statement issued by the Authority yesterday indicates that, per the suspension, the companies are to “desist from engaging in the sale, supply, transportation, discharge and receipt of petroleum products for the duration of their suspension.”
While Union Oil Ghana Ltd, Agapet, Excel Oil Company, Misyl Energy Company, and Globex Energy, were suspended for a period of one month, Petro Afrique Company, Life Petroleum Company, and Unique Company Limited have also been suspended for three months.
NPA further cautioned the general public to desist from doing business with the suspended companies, and asked that any infringements on the part of the listed companies should be reported through the following toll-free lines; “0545006111, 0545006112, and 080012300.”
“The public is therefore advised to desist from doing business with or report any infringement on the part of the listed companies to the NPA,” according to the statement.
