THE RULING New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) engaging in tribal politics, a worrying development if the accusation is true.
At a press conference in Kumasi on Tuesday, Dennis Kwakwa, the Ashanti Regional NPP Communications Director, stated that tribal politics should be rejected.
According to him, credible information reaching him indicated that people with Ashanti lineage were being discriminated against by the NDC members in Kumasi.
Kwakwa claimed that people with Asante names were frustrated when they attempted to register and become NDC card bearing members in the Ashanti Region.
According to him, even people who are strongly linked with the NDC seemed fed up with the NDCs continuous tribal politics tactics as they have expressed concerns about it.
Kwakwa said Kwabena Bobie Ansah, an Accra-based journalist and Frank Kwaku Appiah aka ‘Appiah Stadium’, all known NDC members, have condemned the party.
According to him, the NPP doesn’t discriminate against people, stressing that the party is nationalistic in nature, so those rejected by the NDC should come and join the NPP.
“Thankfully, our brothers and sisters who suffer this fate in the NDC have a good opportunity to come back to the NPP where they are seen to originate from”, he stressed.
The NPP, he said “as a party does not discriminate against anyone based on their tribal, ethnic, or religious affiliation”, urging the citizenry to join the NPP in their numbers.
