THE avoidable delay in the completion of an office space for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti has incurred the wrath of Asare Bediako, a dyed in the wool party influential party member who is being called by party faithful to serve as Regional Chairman.
It is on record that Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, the reigning Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, promised to build the office four years ago.
Wontumi, who was then seeking a second term in office, openly solicited for funds for the office project during a special sod-cutting ceremony in 2018.
Several top notch NPP members in the country, including Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady and others, donated cash and materials to support the project.
However, four years after the sod-cutting ceremony, the NPP Office Complex, located at Abinkyi in the Subin Constituency, is far away from completion.
This sad development has forced Asare Bediako, who is contesting for the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairmanship position, to come out openly and complain.
Speaking in an interview with King Edward of Hello FM in Kumasi, Asare Bediako, who is a veteran politician, complained that the project had delayed.
“Wontumi started the regional party office project in 2018 when we were going to the polls to elect our next batch of regional executives, which is four years ago.
“Ideally, the NPP office project should have been completed for the party to use by now, but from what I am hearing, the project I still under construction”.
Asare Bediako also bemoaned that the NPPs strength, especially in its stronghold of the Ashanti Region, has reduced “and I will change that as chairman”.
