NPP Cleans Manhyia North
The Manhyia North Constituency branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has embarked on a major cleanup exercise to help clean the area in order to curb the spread of diseases.
The commendable exercise saw the NPP executives in Manhyia North and several members of the party, who were clad in party paraphernalia, clearing filth from the area.
Led by Mr. Kwaku Oppong, the Manhyia North NPP Constituency Chairman, the participants in the exercise, cleared choked gutters and weeded bushy areas at the Yenyaowoso Electoral Area.
The exercise, which lasted about four hours, seemed to have touched the hearts of other residents in the constituency as they openly applauded the NPP members for putting up a positive show.
Addressing the media, Mr. Oppong said, the NPP administration, through the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), is determined to make Kumasi filth free and to restore its lost Garden City status.
“As proud members of the party, we have decided to visit one electoral area in the constituency every month to embark on cleanup exercise as our own way of offering support to the government,” he said.
Mr. Akwasi Konadu, who once contested for the NPP Parliamentary seat in the constituency but lost narrowly, stressed the need for Ghanaians to begin to attach importance to environmental issues.
On his part, Kofi Asamoah, the Coordinator of the programme, stated that NPP members are determined to replicate the cleanup exercise in all the electoral areas in the Manhyia North Constituency.
