NPP Curses Leaders With Schnapps, Eggs

Some rubbish it as mere superstition, others say it is a matter of life and death but what is certain is that there is anxiety as some members the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region have resorted to cursing their leaders using schnapps and eggs and dreaded river deity over the upcoming party parliamentary polls.

Some of the party’s delegates in some constituencies say they have reason to believe that some party leaders are clandestinely working to disqualify some aspirants to enable their favourites win the Saturday, June 20, 2020 internal polls.

The unhappy delegates claim that the most reliable and fastest way for them to ensure free and fair party elections in their various constituencies is for them to seek the immediate assistance of some river deities in their communities.

Angry-looking NPP party executive members at Juaben, in the Ashanti Region, reportedly took the lead in the cursing spree by invading the ‘Asuo Abena’, river in their area, where they invoked curses on some of their leaders.

Clad in red and black attire and chanting war songs, these NPP executives, reportedly, slaughtered a live sheep for the river goddess, amid the pouring of schnapps as libation and the breaking of eggs, sparking fear in the party.

The aggrieved NPP members were said to have prayed the river goddess to instantly strike dead some known party leaders in the Ashanti region and at the national headquarters in Accra for being discriminatory.

They said moves by some of the party leaders to make Ama Pomaa Boateng, the sitting NPP MP for Juaben, to contest the seat again unopposed, is not only unfair but it also breaches the constitution of the NPP.

According to them, Alexander Opoku and Francis Owusu Akyaw, are NPP members in good standing in Juaben, therefore the party should allow them to contest for the MP seat in order to ensure peace in the area.

The NPP members said they would ensure that the party would never experience any peace before, during and after the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections, adding that they are only seeking for justice and fairness.

Hours after the cursing incident at Juaben, other reports started to spread that angry NPP members at Offinso have also openly invoked curses against their party leaders for trying to disqualify some aspirants from the MP race.
